Produzido e criado por Oprah Winfrey, ‘Oprah’s Big Give’, que a SIC estreia nesta SEGUNDA-FEIRA (03 Nov) às 22h45, é um formato original no qual cada concorrente recebe uma avultada quantia em dinheiro que deverá aplicar de forma altruísta ao longo de oito semanas. O programa, já emitido pela ABC, é composto por oito episódios, cada um passado numa cidade diferente dos EUA. Enquanto tentam mudar por completo a vida de estranhos – as regras do concurso proíbem gastar dinheiro em benefício próprio ou de familiares e amigos – os participantes no reality show de Oprah Winfrey são auxiliados por várias celebridades, entre as quais se conta os atores John Travolta e Jennifer Aniston, assim como o chef britânico Jamie Oliver. A estréia de ‘Oprah’s Big Give’ alcançou o quarto lugar na tabela de audiências norte-americanas, tendo sido acompanhada por 15,5 milhões de espectadores, cuja curiosidade foi despertada pelos estratagemas a que os concorrentes tiveram de recorrer para cumprir as suas missões. Ajudar uma determinada pessoa ou organização a concretizar um objectivo, ou simplesmente procurar estranhos em dificuldades são apenas algumas das tarefas propostas aos dez participantes. No final de cada episódio o painel de jurados escolhe um deles para abandonar o reality show. Mas nem só de altruísmo vive esta produção. Enquanto praticam o bem, os participantes também disputam um prémio final no valor de cerca de 800 mil euros, metade do qual deverá reverter para causas humanitárias.
