Gerard Butler não tem se importado com os rumores sobre um suposto relacionamento com Jennifer Aniston. Segundo o site "Just Jared", Butler resolveu fazer piada sobre o assunto. "Conan [O'Brien] me perguntou sobre Aniston, que é minha co-protagonista no filme ["The Bounty"], e eu disse: 'Sim, nós vamos casar. Que inferno'. Contar uma piada é minha técnica. Mas eu tomo cuidado para dizer também que vou casar com Cameron Diaz e talvez Joan Rivers. Eu gosto de dizer a todo mundo que vou me tornar um homem comprometido", brincou Butler. Gerard disse que aprendeu desde pequeno que para ficar longe de problema o melhor jeito é torná-lo divertido. "Eu descobri que você tem que abraçar o boato. Pegue o caminho só para mostrar o quanto essa coisa toda é ridícula. Mike, meu personagem, provavelmente diria: "Apenas fale que é verdade'. Acho que aprendi alguma coisa com ele", concluiu.

If you deny it, people think, ‘The lady doth protest too much.’ So I’ve discovered you have to embrace the rumor. Take it all the way just to kind of show how ridiculous the whole thing is.
